Individual Therapy

Balance Your Life With Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a protected space to process emotional experiences and work through life's difficulties. Through the therapeutic relationship and high quality interventions, you can begin to repair what feels broken. Individual therapy is a place where you are encouraged to come as you are while also taking steps towards who you wish to become. I can address mental health struggles like obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety conditions, compulsive eating, and work on areas of personal growth and life transitions. Therapy may feel vulnerable as you share sensitive or potentially painful information. I will hold your story with respect and care.

What to Expect in the First Session

Our first meeting is an intake session held in-person at my office in Ventura or virtually from anywhere in California. This meeting is part of a pre-treatment process where you will have the opportunity to share about your mental health and relational struggles, family history, previous experiences with therapy, and general goals for therapy.

If you completed any assessments prior to the intake session, we will discuss your responses and I may ask for further clarification to learn more. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about my approach or anything else that would help you decide if you would like to work together. I will discuss aspects of conditions that create a safe and productive therapy environment. This therapy 'frame' is the container that allows for deep and honest exploration in the context of a professional setting. It includes policies, scheduling and communication guidelines, confidentiality, and a predictable idea of what to expect in our work together. Review rates, insurance & policies or book a consultation.

The Therapeutic Alliance

Research states that the therapeutic fit, or working relationship, plays a major role in your recovery. When you and I have a shared understanding of the issue, an agreement on the methods to treat the issue, and an attachment-based alliance to tackle the issue, we are ready to begin treatment. Goodness of fit and building a strong foundation at the beginning of treatment is essential.

Collaborative Treatment

Psychotherapy is a relational process where an individual and therapist work together towards a desired outcome. Together we seek to understand your struggles and we make a plan on how to best address them. The work of therapy begins once we have the basic elements of a partnership in your recovery. We will lay the groundwork with a thorough assessment and discussion of your hopes for treatment. Approaching therapy with this kind of intention creates a foundation for the path towards your desired goals.

Individual therapy in Ventura and secure telehealth throughout California.

Whether you are seeking help for OCD, anxiety, emotional eating, or personal growth, I offer an experienced and compassionate approach to changing unhelpful patterns.

you will need to honor your aspirations with your behavior. You won't be able to achieve the progress you want just by changing how you think. While feelings often change after insight about what's happening inside, some feelings will only change after you change your behavior.

OCD Rumination and Digital Reassurance Seeking
